just wanted to share a little something in light o

just wanted to share a little something in light of world mental health day.

as is the case with most social media users, for the most part, if you look at my page you’d see an aesthetic highlight reel. Maybe you’d see a person of faith, which I am. But that doesn’t mean I have days where my faith doesn’t waver.

I’ve probably struggled the most with my mental health this year than any other year thus far. There were so many days I wanted to skip, days of crying, questioning, wondering. But if I’d skipped those days, I wouldn’t have been here to see the sunrise over the Tetons, to drink coffee with my niece on scotchmans peak, to see a grizzly mama feed her cubs in the wild. I would have missed my down blanket that I fall asleep in each night, and the warm tender arms of my husband. I wouldn’t have read the Great Alone by Kristin Hannah or started writing poetry again. I wouldn’t have seen Needtobreathe in concert or gone on my solo hikes with God this Summer. I would have missed a hundred mornings biking to work. I would have never seen the northern lights.

The great mystery of life is that it’s both beautiful and ugly, redemptive and tragic, eternal and temporary. We see through a glass that is dim this side of heaven but one day we will see the truth clearly.

If you are anxious and afraid and desperate for answers of your own, I see you. You aren’t alone.

I hope you find the help you need if you’re in a dark place. A place you feel like you’ll never come out of. It takes time, so much time and honesty and effort, but healing is possible. You can climb back to the light. People will fail you, but they’ll also love you. God has a voice and he’s calling you.

Knock. Seek. Ask. Search.
All lights turned off can be turned on.
