thankful for strong coffee, sweet clients and supp thankful for strong coffee, sweet clients and supportive family… couldn’t survive this season without them!

my creative output may look different this time of year, but busy seasons don’t last forever and I’m learning that I actually enjoy my writing time more when I take the pressure off myself and just lean in where I can.

on this day that meant journaling and doing reading for inspo and market research, but when I’m working long hours, I’m just happy when I can make any progress on my goals at all… looking forward to when I get back more margin in my days and space in my brain which will be soon because

IT’S TAX DAY!! 🥳💻🗂️

nothing like a few inspirational words from a guy nothing like a few inspirational words from a guy with a Scottish accent to make you remember how far you’ve come, and how you owe it to yourself to keep going. Shanks man 🥲🫶🏻

tbh I wasn’t going to share this after I literally tbh I wasn’t going to share this after I literally fell asleep on the couch after doing dishes and didn’t have the energy to write in the evening, buuuut then I remembered how it encourages me when people are *actually* real on this space and I want to be one of those people too.

NEWS FLASH we aren’t machines and we can’t expect ourselves to run at 100% capacity 100% of the time. I may have only written for about 20 minutes on this day but it’s still 20 minutes more than I’d had before! Small steps forward are still steps forward.

Stay tuned for another day in the life because even though I didn’t get as much done as I’d wanted to this still inspired me to stay on track! Also if you work in public accounting I feel your pain. Just a few weeks left though! We got this!

I took this picture over a month ago, on a Saturda I took this picture over a month ago, on a Saturday mid- morning when I had been lost in the joy of writing. I love this picture. I am in my home, in my favorite sweatshirt, a cup of tea in hand- and I can see the light shining in my eyes and the deep contentedness on my lips. Eric Liddell once said of running, “when I run I feel God’s pleasure,” and I know when I write, I feel the same.

Since then, my margin for writing has been minimal as I work in public accounting and this is our busiest time of year.

I’ve also been sifting through a lot of things personally, and keep waiting to share and engage on this space when I have more time and clarity, but also know how toxic it can be to only share the highlights and not the messy middle.

This is my messy middle.

I want to return to this space with more enthusiasm and intentionality, even as my time is stretched thin, and I’m still waiting for answers.

I feel my soul waking up as the light at the end of the tunnel lengthens. On the horizon I see my dreams. They are blurry, but taking shape. And I am returning, gently.

As of late the verse, “thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,” has given me such courage. He shows me not the whole way forward, but gives me enough light for each step I must take.

If you’re reading this and you’re in the messy middle too, you are welcome here. Let’s keep moving forward 🫶🏻

this trend makes me laugh, yet also makes me emoti this trend makes me laugh, yet also makes me emotional because so much is the same and yet everything is different.

I am the same.

I was always the girl who loved words and the woods and the wild.

But time has shaped me and broke me and built me. And I am happy with who I'm becoming.

Still love me my coffee and my books and my flannels. Also I still own three of the clothing items featured in these pictures haha... Can you guess which ones?

P.S. reeeally exposing myself with that final picture trying on the iconic 2016 hipster hat (why did we all think we looked so cool in them🙈haha)

2025 reading wrapped! 📖38 books 📖12,129 pages Th 2025 reading wrapped!

📖38 books
📖12,129 pages

The year of YA and returning to favorites (namely the Hunger Games series after the brilliant new release of Sunrise on the Reaping).

There were books that disappointed (The Summer I Turned Pretty I'm looking at you) and books that snuck up out of nowhere and surprised me, such as The Memory Keeper's Daughter, which I picked up out of the blue at the library and still haven't recovered from.

Although I enjoy keeping up with the trends, this year taught me that it's not always worth it and that life is too short to read bad books. (Especially since I have SUCH A HARD TIME DNF'ing them)

Going into 2026 I am in dire need of some good non fiction and am also looking forward to reading Harry Potter for the first time this year! My hubby gifted me a beautiful set for Christmas.

Let me know your favorite read of 2025 in the comments! Or favorites, I know its hard to choose one. 😉

2025. The year I ran a marathon, pierced my nose, 2025.

The year I ran a marathon, pierced my nose, adopted a dog, journaled and scrapbooked, did more cold plunges, got 6 stories published, played my last game of marbles with my grandpa, and finally deleted this app off my phone. Ok I still download it from time to time, but giving myself some distance from this space has done wonders for my anxiety. Watch me get rid of my iPhone in 2026. (Kidding.) (Mostly.)

Somehow I still managed to write and wonder and read, all with a heavy heart. I ran a lot. Not just 26 miles, but 474 others- miles that honestly got me through this year.

That and Evans brothers coffee, weekend trips to the mountains, my love and my faith and my family.

This year I learned the practice of perseverance and that faithfulness doesn’t come with applause.

People will congratulate you for your 26 miles, but they won’t be there for the other 474. Those miles you run alone. Sometimes in the dark or the cold, the rain, the wind, or the scorching sun. Sometimes with a smile on your face. Sometimes with tears in your eyes. Often feeling weaker at the end instead of stronger.

But stronger you’ll grow, little by little.
And there’s lessons to be learned in the quiet grit of the morning, in pressing beyond the pain when you want to give up.

There were so many views- mother deer with their fawns in the morning, golden sun sparkling on the lake- that I wouldn’t have witnessed if not for lacing up my shoes and getting out the door. I haven’t learned everything yet, in ways I’ve finished this year feeling like more of a novice in life than ever before. One thing I know… “I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus..” (Phil 3:13-14)

I don’t have many lofty goals for 2026.
I just know I need to keep running.

Also should I get a substack this year?
Let me know in the comments.

Praying a year of much peace and purpose upon you.
that wild and free puts me at peace… missing this that wild and free puts me at peace…
missing this place a little extra lately.

Where do you feel most at peace?
