fading, flickering, failing
the sunrays of February
are stubborn
but not yet strong enough
to withstand the cruel mouth of
their foe called Winter
as he swallows them up once again
down into the depths of his dark, dark throat
but they put up a fight
each day lasting longer
each day growing stronger
knowing soon
they won’t fade
they won’t flicker
they won’t fail
spring will come
and they’ll shine
life always conquers death
