I said “I can’t go on.”
He said ” Have no fear.”
I said “But I am weak.”
He said “I will be here.”
I said “The path is dark.”
He said “A light will do.”
I asked, “Where is my light?”
He said “I’ll walk with you.”
I said “I have no strength.”
He said “You’ve had me all along.
And I will be your strength.
With me, you won’t walk wrong.”
“So be brave,” He said,
as he wiped the tears,
that had stung my eyes,
“Don’t forget I love you.
That is why I died.”
I said, “But I will be alone
and no one will help me through.”
He said, “You’ll never be on your own.
I’ll always walk with you.”
Dark and treacherous valleys may come,
but strong and brave I’ll be.
I’ll never go through life alone,
For Jesus walks with me.
